Alphabet for What Dads and Moms Can Do for their Children:

A – Attend events, but not make their identity (or your relationship w/ them) be about that activity.….


B – Believe in them. ("Attempt great things for God. Expect great things from God.")


C – Coach (literally &/or figuratively).


D – Don’t jump out of the raft, and don’t become weary in well-doing.


E – Empathize.


F – Floor time.


G – Give.


H – Hear their heart.


I – Incarnate (not be emotionally distant).


J – Juggle (literally &/or figuratively.)


K – Know WWWWWH is important to them.


L – Listen well. Learn well. Love well.


M – Memorize and meditate on Philippians 4:4-9.


N – Not forsake the gathering together of the saints.


O – Own (our) stuff (vs. what Adam and Eve did, cf. 1 John 1:9)


P – Pray.


Q – Quiet time(s).


R – Read to and with them.


S – Shepherd/serve.


T – Technology. Talks.


U – Understand them (as best you can).


V – Volunteer with them.


W – Walk with God…. Water daily (“Kids are like fescue seedlings…")


X – X-out exasperation (cf. 12 Ways Parents Provoke Children to Anger)


Y – Yield to God and to others, whenever it wouldn't be wrong to.


Z – Zeal...May we not lose a sense of awe that God chooses and uses US to reach and teach the next generation by Him and for Him.
