Put the "P" back into PTC's
As we approach Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC's),
here are some ways to put the "P" back into PTC's.
Principals and Persons of Pedagogy and Purpose:
Please prayerfully peruse, purposefully promote, and pervasively practice these principles and precepts.
Partneringly,

Prepared. (Come with the stuff necessary and sufficient for an effective PTC.)
Personalizing. (Display an artifact that puts yourself and/or your subject on display.)
Punctual. (Be on time. Be aware of time.)
Prayerful. (Open and/or close in prayer -- out loud if your context allows; silently if it doesn't.)
Proactive. (Shepherd well.)
Purposeful. (Be focused and focusing.)
Personable. (Warmly welcome the parents and readily relate to them well.)
Personal. (Let them know that you know their child.)
Partnering. (Prioritize partnering with the parent on behalf of the student.)
Paternal. (Invoke the Father’s kindness and care, and encourage both Dad’s and Mom’s to attend.)
Parameters. (Be aware of appropriate talking points and pace.)
Pedagogical. (Reach and teach the parent and the child with subject-specific, age-appropriate study skills.)
Pragmatic. (Be sensible. Be realistic. Be helpful.)
Positive. (Be encouraging. Say something upbuilding about the student and to and/or for the parent.)
Pleasant. (Greet parents warmly at the beginning and at the end of the conference.)
Professional. (Deport yourself with appropriate attire and conversation—about their student.)
Platoon. (T.E.A.M.)
Patient. (Take the time to make the most of the time at that time. Mercifully remember the journey ahead.)
Participatory. (Deliberately dialog.)
Practical. (Help the parent and the student with next steps.)
