Looking Ahead
Labor Day seems like a fitting occasion to consider what it means to build something that lasts. Generations of faculty, families, students, and staff, along with alumni and donors, have invested their time, talent, and treasure into their schools.
It reminds me of the picture (above). I love this famous photo of ironworkers having lunch high above New York City. It captures something simple: big and enduring things are built by folks who work together.
And just as those workers were constructing something for generations of people that they would never know, we have the opportunity and responsibility of building upon what others began before us.
It’s more than looking back. It’s about looking ahead.

In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying this Labor Day weekend. Unplug, recharge, and spend time with loved ones.
